Zinc, known as Cotap until June 2016, was founded by Jim Patterson and Zack Parker in 2013.  They saw how much companies and organizations struggled with their communication strategies, while the same users embraced consumer technology in their personal life.  This incongruity of behavior and usage patterns inspired the duo to tackle the messaging problem.  Their goal was to create an enterprise-grade messaging platform that was loved as much (maybe more?) than the apps in use after hours. After a close partnership, ServiceMax acquired Zinc in early 2019, kicking off a new era for the thriving company!

The result technology has been embraced by organizations in a variety of verticals, but particularly in healthcare.  The increased emphasis on HIPAA compliance and properly deploying FIPS 140-2 encryption led the Zinc team to SafeLogic and the partnership was a natural fit.  By implementing CryptoComply, Zinc meets all cryptographic requirements as laid out in HIPAA and the HITECH Act and their end users now qualify for Safe Harbor, even if a device is lost or stolen.
