128 Technology is an advanced secure networking company on a mission to fix the Internet. The 128T network platform natively provides network-based security, control and insight across data centers, wide-area networks and edge locations for enterprises, service providers, and cloud companies alike. Their software-oriented approach disrupts the traditional networking paradigm, but doesn't disrupt existing network infrastructures.
128 Technology's vision for Advanced Secure Networking is rooted in five basic principles:
- IP networks should be session-aware.
- Advanced network capabilities should not be standalone functions.
- Routing must evolve to be application and service-centric.
- Overlay networks are not the answer.
- Zero trust security must be everywhere.
With these principles in mind, 128 Technology has developed a new kind of networking platform that addresses a broad range of networking challenges, but is easy to implement alongside the existing network. Led by ACME Packet founders Andy Ory and Patrick Melampy and funded by G20 Ventures and The Perkins Fund, 128 Technology filed their Series B round paperwork on 12/8 in 2015. Surely this was no coincidence.
In October 2020, Juniper Networks announced their intent to acquire 128 Technology for $450 million, which was completed in early 2021. We are excited to continue our partnership with 128 Technology under the Juniper umbrella.
