Founded by Charles B. Wang, Russell Artzt, and a handful of colleagues in 1976, Computer Associates International, Inc. began developing IBM mainframe software. They grew quickly, offering a successful IPO in 1981 and becoming the first software company to reach $1 billion in revenue in 1989. Throughout their history, CA Technologies (as they were later named) has been aggressive in the acquisition of solutions, folding them into the CA portfolio.
