The Inaugural International Cryptographic Module Conference

Written by Ray Potter | Aug 14, 2013 6:20:43 AM

I just got word that I have been invited to speak at the first ever International Cryptographic Module Conference.  What an honor!

The creation of this specialized industry event was long overdue, and I'm proud to be a part of the inaugural edition.  The conference is scheduled to be held September 24th to 26th in Gaithersburg, Maryland and includes stellar topics that address the unique challenges faced by those who produce, use, and test cryptographic modules that conform with standards such as FIPS 140-2.  This is right up our alley.

My session is entitled "FIPS and FUD" and I will be discussing the confusion surrounding vendor claims about FIPS validation.  While the CMVP was established to eliminate the inconsistencies and create distinctions, many buyers are stuck in a landscape of fear, uncertainty and doubt.  My goal is to clarify these topics and help end users identify what they really need in a cryptographic solution. And believe it or not, we might even have a little fun during the session.

Stay tuned for more details... and see you in Maryland!
